ACM membership grants access to Safari Books

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is a well known international learned society for IT professionals. I’ve known about ACM for a while because I encounter articles from their ACM Queue from time to time. I’ve looked at membership options before because they provide some benefits and because the cause of ACM is something that I would support. Until recently though, I couldn’t justify the costs of the yearly subscription which is 99 USD. That’s changed now, big time, because the professional membership now includes access to Safari Books Online.

Preparing for the CCNP TSHOOT exam

This week I finally finished my CCNP R&S studies by passing the TSHOOT exam. This exam was the most fun to prepare because it brings all the previous efforts together and because it’s hands-on. I’d like to share my preparation strategy and my lab build hoping that it will help other people too.

FortiGate Interface Ping Issue

I came across some curious behavior on a FortiGate firewall that seems worth sharing. The deal is that interfaces will only send back an echo reply if there is an admin user that has a trusted host network corresponding with the subnet configured on that interface. Read on for the details.
